Conne Smythe Trophy Candidates 2010

The Conn Smythe Trophy is awarded annually to the player judged most valuable to his team during the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup playoffs. The Conn Smythe Trophy has been awarded 44 times to 38 players since the 1964–65 NHL season. Each year, at the conclusion of the final game of the Stanley Cup finals, members of the Professional Hockey Writers' Association vote to elect the player deserving of the trophy.[1] The trophy is handed out prior to the presentation of the Stanley Cup by the NHL commissioner.

As the Stanley Cup Finals are coming to a close the Conne Smythe Candidate chatter begins at a rapid speed. The front runners for me on the Chicago side are Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith. For Philly, Mike Richards, and Michael Leighton.

For Chicago:

Jonathan Toews:

Through series against Nashville, Vancouver and San Jose he was a dominant force on the ice and showed immense leadership on and off the ice. He may be quiet and "serious" but on the ice he is loud and explosive. Jonathan Toews throughout these playoffs in praise and criticism has show composure. Whenever there was a doubt about the team he always was the first to say he needed to be better and that it is important to take it one game at a time and that regardless of the series score you need to approach every game like game 7.

Duncan Keith:

No one can deny Keith's immense performance in these playoffs you want a strong, gritty, smart defensiveman who can skate and jump up you need Keith. He is HEART, PASSION and PLAY!! When he got hit with a puck and knocked out 7 teeth he got drugged up and got back on the ice, chewing on gauze after every shift.. If that is not MVP and Norris Trophy worthy I don't know what is...

Philly:

Mike Richards:

Similar to Jonathan Toews he has been silenced in the SCF but still shows leadership, heart and passion for his team and the game.

Michael Leighton:

The Flyer would not be here without him.

Sorry not to fond of the flyers.. hahaha
